A
'pre-engineered' floor means that the joists that support
it are of a higher quality than just solid wood alone. Each
piece is pressed and reinforced to exact specifications so
that each joist is exactly like every other in your home.
A pre-engineered joist is defect- free and will not shrink
or warp with age like ordinary wood. So as your home gets
older, your Pre-engineered Floor System will remain just as
solid and level as the day it was installed. You can't tell
a Pre-engineered Floor System by looking at it, but you sure
can by its comfort. Remember to ask for the Pre-engineered
Floor System by name.
How Our Floors Actually Help the Environment
Joists that are pre-engineered actually use more of the
tree than ordinary cut solidlumber, leaving les waste behind.
The wood is then dried and combined with a binding agent to
add strength, durability and uniformity. And even with all
this work, it still requires less energy to produce a pre-engineered
wood product than one made of steel, iron or aluminum. Wood
is the only building material that is a renewable resource,
it just makes sense to select the Pre-engineered Floor System.
